Before we tell you what's happening we would like you to know... The one thing that has become clearly apparent since we started this website is that Torrington has many layers of complexities. It is rich in content, abundant in resources, floundering in transition and blessed with a community that is both loyal and on its guard. We couldn't be more pleased to represent Torrington online and call this community our home!
New content has been added to the {Social} menu with the launch of {Meetups}. It has been very successful and represents the kind of content we are about bringing to the Torrington community. Meetups is a great place to find others with similar interests and arrange events as a group. If you don't see a meetup that strikes your interest -- we would be more then happy to help you create one.
The Beta testing of The Torrington Chat Room has been less then hopeful. The program code is not going to fulfill our expectations. Besides being buggy (unavailable at times) it is not adapting well to mobile platforms such as smart phones. Also, we have user behavioral issues that have to be address. It is not that we want to sensor what is discussed or communicated… we just have concerns about minors being exposed to adult content. We are exploring monitoring methods (policed by users not us) in order for it to be safe for kids. For the {current chat} will remain in beta testing while we work on coding something much better to replace it in the future.
The launching of the new "full featured" FREE Classified section has been delayed by a few lose ends. The good news is we are working it out and the "full featured" FREE Classified section will launch in December.
Your comments have brought to our attention the need for a cross reference of Torrington events. So, we are please to tell you... an events calendar is being coded / beta tested and should be onsite soon. Right now, you can access what's current in {This Week in Torrington} and for a more extensive list of things to do in Torrington view the {Leisure} menu.
You only have to explore the massive amount of content in our menu and the need to work on better ways to access it becomes apparent. Website search will be coming soon and it should prove very useful. We are also looking at other ways users can navigate the website better. Any suggestions?
