The city will elect its next mayor on November 5th, 2013. Current city council member Elinor Carbone is the Republican candidate, George Craig will be representing the Democratic party, Giulio Romano is a Petitioning candidate, registered as an Independent and Jacque Williams is running as a write-in candidate for the city’s highest office.

Mayor Ryan Bingham announced that he would not be running for the next term of office in order to spend more time with his family. He stepped down in October -- two months before his term was set to end.
Bingham became one of the youngest mayors in Connecticut's history when he was elected in 2005 at the age of 22, defeating incumbent Democrat Owen Quinn.
According to his supporters, after the unexpected win, Bingham became a popular mayor. He was re-elected by a 3-to-1 margin the last time he ran for the seat and last year he became president of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities -- a lobbying group.
